We want you to understand the paradigms of Data Mesh and how to apply it to your organizational data and structures - To fill the gap between the widespread theoretical resources and the scarce practical implementation details, we will apply the learnt Data Mesh principles on a real example in a hands-on manner.

Details

Data Mesh is a socio-technical paradigm on how to shape an organization to leverage the value of data even in the presence of frequent change and massive growth. The four main principles of Data Mesh propose organizational changes towards a decentralized, domain-oriented mesh of data products with a centralized, automated governance structure. Since this is a clear shift from traditional centralized data organization with dedicated data analytics teams, the change comes with additional challenges of its own.

In this workshop, we develop a common understanding of Data Mesh, its four core principles and how they interoperate to overcome the most common challenges in today's data ecosystem. We will work on a real world dataset to shape our data domains and define data products by directly applying the learnt theoretical knowledge in a hands-on manner. In our discussion about the most important design decisions, you can benefit from our industry experience in incorporating the Data Mesh concepts and get a firsthand selection of critical Dos and Don’ts on the journey to a full grown Data Mesh.
